Local Dining Spots to Try in Hilton Head

Eating with the Locals

Like many of the best vacation spots, the Hilton Head area is laden with an array of exquisite local choices for dining. The peaceful beach community is no slouch with a few of its own legendary and iconic local restaurants. Based in the Lowcountry, a region famous for its delicious southern recipes and seafood dishes, Hilton Head offers a truly unique dining experience. The best part is that, like most of the south, many of the local dining establishments like to make eating an entertainment-filled activity as well!

Skull Creek Boathouse

The Skullcreek Boathouse is one of the local favorites, and a great spot for a hangout. Located right on the water, sit and enjoy fresh caught seafood, classic low-country cuisine, and even hand rolled sushi! During the summertime you can join them in their Beer Garden, with a kid-friendly play area nearby as well. Enjoy live music while sipping on their fresh original drinks. Their outdoor Marker 13 Buoy Bar is also the perfect place to enjoy a stunning low-country sunset while relaxing. Don’t forget to stop by the Skull Creek General Store before you leave to find unique gifts, Skull Creek gear, and Low-country inspired goods.

Hudsons

Originally built in 1912 as a Oyster Factory by the namesake J.B. Hudson SR., Hudson’s on the Docks has been a Hilton Head tradition for over a century. The peninsula and foundation the current restaurant stands on is built on-top of the discarded oyster shells, standing on the shoulders of those he came before it! You’ll find the freshest seafood straight from the local waters, habit-forming hushpuppies, and endless oysters! Located right on the water, Hudson’s also provides a serene view of the low-country as you enjoy its bounty. z

Crane’s Tavern

If you’re looking for a fantastic steakhouse with only the best cuts, perfectly selected wine, and fresh seafood then make sure to stop by Crane’s Tavern. Opened in Hilton Head in 1999, Crane’s Tavern’s history extends beyond that, back to the turn of the century in Philadelphia. Over a century later, the name has been spread to South Carolina providing delicious food for their customers. If you’re looking for a great place to stop by for dinner, make sure you check out Crane’s Tavern.

Crazy Crab

Another great location has to be the Crazy Crab, a fantastic place for family dining! A local staple for over thirty years (and hopefully another thirty more!), the Crazy Crab has a ton to offer. Not only is their food top-notch with freshly prepared seafood, traditional Lowcountry recipes, and the best crab legs in Hilton Head, but they also provide these delicacies alongside a stunning waterfront view! The Crazy Crab also provides great entertainment for the whole family with onsite playgrounds, the largest saltwater fish tank in Hilton Head (Jarvis Creek Location), and live music all summer long!

Jazz Corner

Perhaps you want that singular amazing experience—a crown jewel dining experience to memorialize your vacation. This one is more adult-oriented; however, it is truly something that should not be missed. The Jazz Corner, located in The Village at Wexford, is a dining experience that will make for a memorable vacation. Celebrating twenty years of pairing gourmet food with the utmost of sensational entertainment, the Jazz Corner does not disappoint. A project from the heart of the late Jazz musician and historian, Bob Masteller, the 99-seat Jazz Corner has become a Lowcountry landmark. With a deliciously intimate atmosphere fused with innovative southern and Lowcountry flavors, it is the perfect setting to enjoy world-class entertainment. Reservations are recommended; however, walk-ins are welcome as well. It’s a perfect capstone for a memorable vacation!

No matter where you go you really cannot go wrong for a memorable experience!
